Job summary

This role brings our ideas and innovations to life in a tangible way for our customers, developing our suite of internal and external Vue apps, working completely in Cloud, and using scrum methodology as a key member of an agile squad.  

Your key responsibilities

  1. Contribute to the overall technical direction of our front-end development through the use of frameworks, pre-compilers and other front-end technologies.
  2. Be a key contributor on our open source tool for rendering forms from JSON Schema (https://www.npmjs.com/package/@mutt/forms) and its ecosystem.
  3. Build production-ready UIs.
  4. Work with other developers to ensure your code fits in with the overall design and coding standards.
  5. Contribute ideas and innovations, wherever you see opportunity for improvement.
  6. Work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary product teams.
  7. Work within and help to improve our Spotify-derived self-organizing squad model.

  • Continuously contribute to and support the squads and the overall technical team in an enthusiastic and committed way.

What you bring

Knowledge

  • Javascript fluency, including ES6+ and node.js.
  • Vue.js (or other JavaScript frameworks).
  • Testing with Jest (or other unit test frameworks).
  • Responsive HTML & CSS.
  • Pre-compilers: SASS, LESS.
  • REST APIs.
  • Front-end security architectures and practice.
  • Good knowledge of relevant build tools such as webpack, rollup.
  • Agile methodologies such as Agile or Kanban.

Skills and personal attributes

  • A user experience fanatic.
  • An engineer at heart.
  • Completer finisher: wants to give users the best possible experience but also recognizes that perfect is good finished.
  • Can recognize when the solution is getting too complex and it’s time to adjust the requirements, or when it’s time to delete, refactor and simplify.
  • Strong team ethic: makes change happen by working with and through others.
  • Understands not all ideas and code will make it into production and is able to move on.

Experience and qualifications

  • A strong software development background.
  • Experience in agile ways of working i.e. scrum, Kanban.
  • Experience with Nuxt, Netlify or SSR is an advantage.
  • A relevant degree is preferred.

up to 65,000pa

Hours of work

Our standard working week is 37.5 hours, typically 09:00 to 17:30 from Monday to Friday. Occasional travel to other sites will be required.
