Asthma Travel Insurance

Join the group to buy travel insurance and give something back to an asthma charity

About this group

Asthma is a common condition, affecting 5.4 million people (1.1 million of which are children) in the UK alone.

But if your doctor has cleared you to travel, there is no reason you should miss out on a relaxing, life enhancing holiday, simply because you are asthmatic. One thing that can get in the way of your travel plans is the cost of the insurance. Many companies increase their premiums substantially for people with existing medical conditions, including asthma, even if the condition is under control.

While you shouldn’t let your asthma get in your way, certain precautions are advisable, particularly if you are travelling to high altitude locations, on long-distance flights or to a destination with extreme weather patterns. It is also recommended to get as much information about your destination as you can (such as stairs at the hotel, pollution levels, food options and the location of the nearest hospital) and make sure you have a good supply of inhalers and medication.

More information can be found on the Asthma UK website.

Join this group to get an affordable and instant travel insurance quote. And if you take out a policy our insurance partner will donate 15% of your premium to Asthma UK to support its work offering advice to suffers and funding research to help cure the condition.

Hi Kenneth, thanks for getting in touch. Free Spirit offer a better service over the phone and are able to consider longer trips than they offer online. You can still get the Bought by Many discount if you call them on 0845 230 5000 and quote BOU2310. I hope this helps and do let me know if you need any more info! Heidi

My husband is waiting for two stents to be put in and also has CPOD apart from that he's fine. I have asthma and osteoarthritis. We would like to go on a cruise later in the year but are worried that we won't be able to get an insurance that will be affordable ? Any suggestions please.

Good morning Jacqui Sorry for the delay in my reply. There are a couple of options we have for you. Please excuse me as I don't know your ages, however if you are both over 50, we do have a group for people with pre existing medical conditions: https://boughtbymany.com/offers/travel-insurance-over-50-with-medical-conditions/ You can join this group and you will be eligible for a saving on your policy (rather than if you went direct to the company) Or alternatively, we have a group for people who have been refused cover elsewhere, this company guarantees to insure you, providing your GP deems you fit to travel. The advantage with this is that they do not ask for a complete breakdown of conditions, so it is relatively straight forward. Here is the link: https://boughtbymany.com/offers/cover-for-people-who-have-been-refused-insurance/ Hope that helps Thanks and Happy New Year Heidi
