Overview of the insurance provided by Salon Gold
Salon Gold is a business insurance company and broker formed over 30 years ago. It aims to provide tailored, niche insurance products for people in the hair and beauty sector.
Its main products include beauty salon insurance, barber and hairdresser insurance, nail salon insurance, tanning salon insurance and spa insurance, but it also sells products aimed at sports therapists, gym owners, yoga teachers, and a wide range of other professions.
It offers cover for permanent shops, as well as for freelance workers.
Salon Gold's insurance includes:
- Property damage cover, including goods in transit cover of up to £5,000
- Cover for lost money, including if it is taken from a locked safe or due to robbery
- Employer's liability cover of up to £10m
- Public liability cover of between £3m and £5m
- Up to £100,000 in legal expenses
- Cover for loss of income
You can also pick from a number of optional extras, including buildings cover, subsidence cover, terrorism cover and personal accident cover. Bear in mind that choosing these will increase the price of your premium.
If you teach, Salon Gold can also extend your cover so you have insurance to train people in your chosen profession. Bear in mind you'll need a teaching qualification recognised in the UK to be eligible for this cover.
Are there any exclusions with Salon Gold business insurance?
As with all business insurance policies, there are a number of exclusions to Salon Gold's insurance. For instance, your property won't be covered due to things like wear and tear or gradual deterioration. Moreover, employer's liability has a limitation of £5m for any one event due to acts of terrorism.
You also won't be covered for public liability due to anything relating to asbestos in your property. This can be a problem for older buildings that may still contain asbestos.
One of the potentially most important exclusions to this policy is cyber liability. Salon Gold won't be able to cover you for any liability due to any loss or damage to your computer or network systems. This is an area of business insurance that is still relatively neglected. Check out our article on cyber risk insurance for more information on this.
Make sure you read the policy documents of your insurance policy thoroughly so you know exactly what you are covered for and what exceptions there are.
How much does Salon Gold business insurance cost?
It can be difficult to predict the cost of business insurance as so many different factors go into calculating the price of a premium.
For instance, the type of business, your turnover, how many employees you have, the value of your products and the type of building you trade from, among other factors, will all dictate the price of your premium.
For this reason, the easiest way to find out how much you will have to pay is by getting yourself a quote.
