How does Waggel compare to Bought By Many?
Waggel was launched in December 2018 a year after Bought By Many's pet insurance. Both companies offer lifetime policies covering cats and dogs.
All Bought By Many and Waggel policies are lifetime, which means the vet fee cover level resets every year you renew so it can cover ongoing illness and conditions throughout the lifetime of your pet.
Bought By Many's Complete policy gives pet owners a vet fee cover level of £15,000 which is £5,000 more than Waggel's highest level of £10,000. If you need something lower, Bought By Many offer lifetime policies for up to £3,000 and £7,000. Waggel has cover levels ranging between £2,000 and £8,000.
Bought By Many pet insurance can help pet owners save money. Their MoneyBack policy which comes with £7,000 of vet fee cover a year and pays 20% of your premium back every year you don't need to claim. They also have a 15% multi-pet discount if you insure more than one pet on the same policy. (Our multi-pet discount is not currently available on our Value 2k policy). At the time of writing Waggel do not offer a multi-pet discount.
Within their annual coverage, Waggel and Bought By Many have limits on annual claims for complementary and behavioural treatments. Waggel has a £1,000 limit and Bought By Many's Complete policy has a £2,500 limit.
Two of the biggest differences between each pet insurer is that Bought By Many can cover conditions that ended more than two years ago. They also have a policy that can cover conditions that have ended more recently. Waggel do not cover what such conditions.
Bought By Many also allow new customers to make an immediate claim if they switch directly to Bought By Many from another pet insurance provider. Bought By Many have removed the 14 day exclusion period, allowing customers to claim immediately.
If you have more than one pet, Bought By Many offer a 15% multi-pet discount which is the largest discount currently available in the market. (Our multi-pet discount is not currently available on our Value 2k policy). Waggel do not currently offer a multi-pet discount.
Waggel and Bought By Many both provide their customers with free video consultations UK vets through the FirstVet app. Waggel offers a personal claims handler. Bought By Many does not provide this service but all claims are tracked in a customer's online account. You can log in at any time to see how your claim is progressing.

How to make a claim with Waggel
To make a claim, customers need to log into their account before selecting claim and answering the specific questions promoted on the screen. They should download and complete their claims forms from www.waggel.co.uk and either email it to hello@waggel.co.uk or post it to WeWork, 131 Finsbury Pavement, EC2A 1NT, London.
Once each customer has filled out their details, the claim will be sent to their chosen vet that performed the treatment. The vet will then need to complete their section and provide all relevant details. Once this has been completed, the claim will then be processed by Waggel.
Customers can track the progress of their claim in real time by using the WaggelApp. Once a claim has been processed, Waggel will pay a vet directly. If this isn't possible the payment can be made to policy holders. They will only pay one party for the amount claimed.
