M&S Pet Insurance in Summary
As a brand, M&S needs little introduction – it is a British institution. However, in addition to food, clothes, homeware and Christmas adverts, M&S also offers financial products, including home, car and pet insurance.
Overview of the cover provided by M&S Pet Insurance
M&S’s pet insurance policy is underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance (RSA), who also underwrite policies for John Lewis, Argos, MORE TH>N, Tesco and the RSPCA.
Pet insurance is available for dogs and cats, with three levels of cover to choose from:
Essential – This is a limited policy offering £3,000 in vet fees cover for each illness or injury, or a maximum period of 12 months (whichever is reached first); £500 in complementary treatments; £1,000,000 third party liability cover (dogs only); £600 cover for death from injury or illness (pet must be under 9 years-old for illness cover); £100 for putting your pet to sleep, cremation or burial; £600 advertising for a missing pet, reward for missing pet and stolen or missing pet respectively; and dental treatment for injury.
Standard – This policy offers all of the same benefits as Essential, but is a Lifetime policy, meaning your pet’s conditions are covered for a set amount each year of his or her life - £4,000 in this case (with a limit of £1,000 per illness or injury per year). Additionally, this policy also offers dental cover for both injury and illness and emergency boarding or daily minding for £60 per week, or £600 in total.
Premier – This is also a Lifetime policy, offering £7,000 in vet fees cover each year, with no limit per illness or injury. The policy also includes: complementary treatment cover for £1,000; treatment food for £200; Behavioural disorder for £250; dental treatment for illness and injury; £2,000,000 third party liability cover (dogs only); £1,500 cover for death from injury or illness (pet must be under 9 years-old for illness cover); £200 for putting your pet to sleep, cremation or burial; £1,250 advertising for a missing pet; £750 reward for missing pet; £1,500 for a stolen or missing pet; emergency boarding or daily minding for £70 per week, or £750 in total; £2,000 cover for pets abroad; and £3,000 holiday cancellation cover.
