Get Going is one of Travel Insurance Facilities' (TIF) brands. In November 2018, The Times reported on a number of allegations made by customers against TIF.

TIF says that the allegations made by The Times are completely false. It has taken legal action and brought a defamation claim against the newspaper.

TIF states that it has long-campaigned for a better understanding of travel insurance, and will continue to do so. It refers to its educational campaigns at www.travelinsuranceexplained.co.uk as well as its dedicated philosophy and ethics information at www.tifgroup.co.uk/about/our-philosophies.

Summary

Get Going Travel Insurance specialises in insuring travellers who have health conditions. The company proudly states: “We don’t believe that existing medical conditions should necessarily be a barrier to travel, or mean that a travel insurance policy should cost the Earth.”

It says it offers competitive quotes, even for serious conditions such as cancer. However, you don’t have to have a medical condition to take out a policy with Get Going.

All calls are handled in-house, which is a refreshing change for customers and also enables greater monitoring of customer service. Get Going is underwritten by Travel Insurance Facilities Plc and offers a range of comprehensive cover for travellers.

Get Going offers multiple travel insurance options including single trip, long stay travel for trips of up to 18 months, winter sports extension, multi-trip, cruise, business and wedding insurance.

Get going travel insurance could be a good option for older travellers because it understands the difficulties of senior travel when there are pre-existing medical complications. Having a pre-existing medical condition therefore doesn’t prohibit travel for senior travellers even up to the age of 85.

It is part of the Travel Insurance Facilities Group (TIF).

How much does Get Going Travel Insurance cost?

It is vital that you disclose the full details of any health issues to your insurer and to notify them if your condition changes.

For example, if you fall pregnant after you have taken out the policy. This change of condition may not have any effect on your ability to travel, but it may affect your premium costs or have other implications on the level of your cover.

According to MoneySuperMarket.com, Get Going insurance for a 40-year-old woman travelling to Spain who is regarded as being in remission for 2 years would pay a premium of £34.47 for a single trip Premier policy.

A 50-year-old heart attack sufferer, (provided it was at least one year since their heart attack) would pay £33.97.

What do Get Going Travel Insurance customer reviews say?

Get Going has a healthy average score of 8.2 out of 10 from 622 reviews on Trustpilot. Customers commented positively on the level of cover, ease of purchase and excellent price. One customer said that when he was ill on holiday, things were sorted out very quickly.

Reassuringly, many customers have mentioned the rapid response, however, some do complain about not being able to get through to the company.

"Excellent Service Very efficient service, keeping me updated at all times, and paid claim without any fuss"
