Overview of the cover provided by Direct Line home insurance policies
There are three levels Direct Line home cover: Home Insurance, Home Insurance Plus and Select Premier.
Direct Line’s standard Home Insurance policy covers building insurance up to £1m and contents up to the value of £50,000, with a 24-hour emergency helpline available in the event of a claim.
For greater coverage, Direct Line’s Home Insurance Plus policy includes unlimited buildings cover, up to £100,000 for contents and many features that are optional extras within its home insurance cover as standard. It offers up to £500 a callout for its home emergency cover, which can be useful if essential parts of your home such as your heating or electrics fail. Direct Line will pay for an engineer to fix the problem if it is under the £500 limit.
Accidental damage cover is also covered as standard under Plus. If any of your household items, excluding jewellery, are damaged, beyond repair, or stolen, they will offer to replace them or give you cash up to the value of the items. Select Premier is a specialist insurance premium designed for higher value homes, with the flexibility to cover single items such as antiques, fine art and jewellery under a single policy.
How much does home insurance from Direct Line cost?
As with all insurance policies, there is no set cost for Direct Line home cover. Your premium will depend on a number of factors, such as the level of cover you require, any previous claims, the value of the goods you want to insure and the age and location of your home.
To reduce costs, Direct Line offers a number of discounts, including up to 35% reduction when new customers take out a buildings and contents policy online. Excludes SELECT Premier customers.
