What types of travel insurance does Axa offer?
Axa offers a number of travel insurance policies, including single trip, annual multi-trip, sports and activities cover, winter sports cover and even some cover for pre-existing conditions.
Axa provides three different levels of travel insurance cover:
Axa's most comprehensive cover allows a maximum trip length of 45 days. It provides £15m medical cover, including £1,000 dental treatment and £2,000 total hospital benefit. It offers £5,000 for cancellation, £5,000 for disruption or delay to travel plans, a personal belongings cover limit of £2,500, £2m of personal liability and £25,000 in legal expenses cover.
This policy has an excess of £50 per incident per person.
Axa's Silver cover allows for trips up to 35 days in length. It provides £10m in medical expenses, including £750 emergency dental treatment and £1,200 total hospital benefit. If your trip is delayed, disrupted or cancelled it can offer £2,500. It also provides personal belongings cover of £2,000, personal liability cover of £1.5m and £15,000 in legal expenses cover.
This policy has an excess of £100 per incident per person.
Axa's cheapest policy lets you embark on a trip of up to 30 days. It provides £10m medical emergency cover, including £500 dental cover and £1,000 total hospital benefit. For delays, disruption and cancellation it can cover you for up to £1,000 and can cover your personal belongings up to £1,500. It offers personal liability cover of £1m, with legal expenses cover of £5,000.
This policy has an excess of £150 per incident per person.
Each policy can also have cruise cover, winter sports cover or golf cover added to it. Bear in mind this will increase your premium.
Its winter sports cover and golf cover can cover equipment up to £1,500. Cruise cover can provide cabin confinement cover of £1,000, £1,200 and £2,000 on its Bronze, Silver and Gold cover respectively.

Are there any restrictions with Axa travel insurance?
As with all travel insurance policies, there will be some restrictions.
Axa's travel insurance won't cover you for claims that arise as a result of things like war, invasion, terrorist action or revolution that were taking place before you purchased insurance.

You also won't be covered if something happens as a result of you being drunk or using drugs, and you won't be covered for any activities not listed on your schedule.
Does Axa offer travel insurance for over 65s?
Axa offers travel insurance for people up to the age of 74 inclusive on its annual multi-trip policy. Its single trip policy will cover you up to the age of 79 inclusive.

Does Axa offer travel insurance for pre-existing conditions?
Axa can offer some cover for pre-existing conditions. Its policy documents list things like heart conditions, epilepsy and cancer in conditions that will not be covered unless you declare them and the company agrees to cover you. These are conditions you have had medication prescribed or received surgery for, had inpatient treatment for or had any investigations into in the past five years.
In reality, most companies will not cover more serious medical conditions like cancer or heart conditions, and if they do, it will be at a vastly increased premium.
How much does travel insurance from Axa cost?
Due to the many factors that go into calculating the cost of travel insurance, it can be difficult to predict the price of a premium. These include where you are travelling to, how long you are staying for, which policy you choose, whether you include any optional extras, how old you are and whether you have any pre-existing medical conditions.

On Reviewcentre.com, Axa travel insurance has a rating of 1.4/5 based on over 150 reviews, with 12% of users recommending the product.
On Reviews.co.uk, Axa as a whole has a rating of 3.06 out of 5 based on over 550 reviews, with 53% of reviewers recommending the company.
And on Trustpilot, that company as a whole has a rating of 0.9 out of 10 based on over 310 reviews.
Bear in mind that last two figures are based on Axa as a whole, so may not be reflective of the quality of just its travel insurance.
Expert reviews of Axa travel insurance
An independent financial reviewer has awarded Axa's Gold travel insurance product a 5 Star rating.
Its Silver and Bronze travel insurance products have both been given a 3 Star rating.
And over on Fairer Finance, Axa's Premier (Gold) product has been given a 5-star rating. Its Extra (Silver) and Basic (Bronze) policies have been awarded 3 and 1 star respectively.
How to make a claim on Axa travel insurance
If you need to make a claim on Axa's travel insurance, you can do so through your online Axa account.
The company also provides three numbers in the event of emergencies:
For emergency medical assistance or repatriation, you'll need to call 01737 815626. This number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
For all other travel insurance claims, except legal expenses, you'll have to call 0330 024 1308. You'll need to make your claim within 31 days of the incident.
