Policyholders can then opt to increase your cover with extras such as dental and optical treatment, psychiatric treatment, an extended choice of hospitals, and protected no claims discount.

Other benefits include a 24-hour GP helpline for medical guidance, free cover for younger children if you take out a policy for yourself and your eldest child, a 24-hour stress counselling helpline and membership of Aviva Advantages – exclusive discounts and prize draws, open to all Aviva customers.

How much does Aviva health insurance cost?

Aviva offers customers options to flexibly tailor the level of cover, according to your budget. For example, policyholders can sign up for the ‘six week’ option – where treatment is initially received under the NHS, and then referred privately if the issue has not been resolved after six weeks – to reduce your premium.

Other flexible options include scaling back out-patient cover to a £1,000, £500 or £0 limit, raising your excess up to a maximum £5,000, and reducing the choice of available hospitals.

At renewal stage, Aviva also offers up to 15% discount to customers who undertake MyHealthCounts; an online assessment tool that analyses the current state of your health.
