What types of pet insurance does Admiral offer?
Admiral offers six pet insurance policies:
- Premier Plus
This is a Lifetime policy, providing vet fees cover of up to £10,000 per year, £2,500 of dental cover for accidents, death cover of £1,500, theft or straying cover of £1,500, and third party legal liability of £2m.
Also a Lifetime policy, Premier offers £5,000 of vet fees cover, £2,500 of dental cover for accidents, death cover of £1,000, theft or straying cover of £1,000 and liability cover of £2m.
Admiral's third Lifetime policy offers £2,500 vet fees cover, £2,000 of dental cover for accidents, death cover of £750, theft or straying cover of £750 and £1m in legal liability cover.
This is a Per Condition policy, offering £2,500 in vet fees cover, £2,000 of dental cover for accidents, death cover of £1,000, theft or straying cover of £1,000 and legal liability of £1.5m.
Admiral's other Per Condition policy offers £2,000 in vet fees cover, £2,000 of dental cover for accidents, death cover of £750, theft or straying cover of £750 and liability of £1m.
- Accident Only
Accident Only does exactly what it says on the tin: it will only cover vet fees relating to accidents, not for illnesses. It covers £3,500 in vet fees cover, as well as £550 if your pet dies, and legal liability of £1m.
Admiral's policies come with an £85 excess for illnesses or accidents and a £250 excess for personal liability. If your pet is over the age of 6, there is a co-payment fee of 10% on any claim.
Bear in mind that legal liability cover only applies to dogs, as cats are regarded under the law as 'free spirits' and as such you will not be held liable if they injure someone or damage their property.
Admiral's policies are underwritten by Zenith Insurance.

Does Admiral pet insurance cover dental treatment?
All of Admiral's policies except accident only provide dental cover as a direct result of accident or injury. This means any routine treatment, such as cleaning your dog's teeth, will not be covered under the policy.

Does Admiral pet insurance cover pre-existing medical conditions?
Admiral doesn't provide cover for any pre-existing conditions. It defines this as any condition, diagnosed or undiagnosed, that has occurred prior to the policy being bought.
It also won't provide cover for any illness occurring in the first 14 days of the policy, or for any accident that happens in the first 24 hours.
It can be difficult to find pet insurance that provides cover for pre-existing conditions.
However, Bought By Many offers a product that will cover your pet for conditions it has previously suffered from. You can find out more about this by joining out pet insurance for pre-existing medical conditions group.
